Naga Tokiba wrote:Hi Mr. Hilmar P+¬tursson Thanks for a very enlighting interview, I'm happy to see CCP back in the spaceship business again. I do agree that WIS is a Nice To Have rather than Required feature for EVE Online. It is allso my experience/observation that the CSM are pulling in a particular way for the game play - CSM members need to evenly distributed across all gameplay types - they are our representatives, not their corp or alliance representatives. I do think the CSM is a good thing, but adjustments are needed. Looking forward to new stuff Soon(tm). Regards.
It is much easier for power blocks to rally support for a particular candidate or candidates. While the current CSM reflects this more so than the last two, the fault lies with everyone who didn't vote for other types of members and the fact that non power block candidates have a much harder time at rallying support, especially those who are primarily Highsec or industrial candidates and for them its closer to a popularity competition than anything else - how else would they get known?
While I do agree that this is true we do have current members like Meissa who is not only a very experienced CSM (hes been on pretty much all of them as a full member or an alternate) but is extremely well versed in all parts of the game and you can be sure that he doesn't focus on just one area of the game. Saying this, he can't do everything by himself, which is why we're lucky Trebor is there to help him.
However, how else could elections go or the selection process be made? I cannot see a way that would be fairer than the current system and also fix this problem. How would you identify correctly those standing for a specific playstyle or player type - some candidates like myself run/ran on a specific platform designed to benefit all, and then you have those running from a particular angle and are just doing so as a marketing strategy, and of course those who will say anything to get a free trip to Iceland (Although they inevitably find out its definatly not free). I'm no politician and have no ideas about this, but I do want to see things improve! |

Any answers to my question from the first page :P We will definitely continue supporting them, just like we did before, but there is always room for improvement. Anything specific you have in mind?
I'm not sure if thats a question you really want me to answer here - just ask poor navigator what its like to sit next to me when i get going :P But sure, I have billions of ideas. Player events are the only things that ever drove me to play eve and they're all I spent my time doing before I quit, and I think they're a completely untapped marketing tool for CCP. The announcement of renewed attention to the community is what brought me back although its a little depressing to see so many of the team gone. I will have a serious think about some of the ideas that are actually feasable and relevant now (some of my ideas are a little outdated now i'd say) and get back to you. I'll also see if I can find my "T'amber's Bible to running, managing and marketing ingame eve events" document which some people found useful.
But the first thing that would be good is something like this: http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s260/MrOosterman/eventmenu_version2_mouseover.jpg
Its extremely hard for CCP to support or market player events with the potential for scams and negative results reflecting back on CCP and its something that would need to be adresses before anything extensive could happen on a wider scale than it does already. Other than news posts, unsold items from the eve shop, free fanfest tickets, and free accounts how do you actually support them, and how many people get this kind of support, if this still happens at all?
